  • What makes Golden Age Tallow special?

    Our Golden Age Premium Tallow is sourced from carefully selected grass-fed cattle. Our tallow also contains no additives, no anti-foaming agents, and no preservatives, unlike some other conventional beef tallow on the market. In addition, our beef tallow is gently rendered at a lower temperature than is traditionally used, in order to prevent oxidation, retain nutrient density, and prevent formation of a "burnt" or "beefy" taste.

  • What is Tallow?

    Tallow is rendered beef fat, which is sourced from the kidneys and other trimmings. The process of rendering suet involves gently melting it to separate the pure fat from any remaining impurities like meat, connective tissue, and moisture.


    When done correctly, rendering produces the nutrient-rich, shelf-stable fat we know as beef tallow. Traditionally, rendering is done very slowly and at low temperatures to ensure the nutrients stored within the fat are preserved.

  • How do I use Tallow?

    The possibilities for tallow are endless, that’s part of the reason why we love it so much. To start with, we’d recommend using it either:


    1. In the kitchen


    Tallow is the king of cooking fats for a reason. Not only does it taste delicious, it’s incredibly versatile and can be used for everything from roasting to frying. Tallow’s high smoke point also makes it the perfect fat for high-temperature cooking methods.


    2. On your skin


    For thousands of years, people have been using animal fats to moisturize their skin and for good reason!


    Beef tallow is full of fat-soluble vitamins that are easily absorbed by the skin and aren’t prone to oxidation. Beef tallow can therefore help nourish and hydrate dry or damaged skin, and is a fantastic natural ingredient to use in your skincare regimen!

  • Why should I cook with Tallow and not other oils?

    Beef tallow is the superior cooking fat for many reasons - it has a very high smoke point (420F) so it doesn’t oxidize easily, contains lots of fat-soluble vitamins (vitamin A, K, D, and E), and has proven anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and metabolism-boosting effects.


    While other fats like butter, ghee, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and even avocado oil can be healthy choices, tallow comes out on top when it comes to cooking for the reasons above. Seed oils such as canola, sunflower, or soybean should be avoided entirely due to their high Poly-Unsaturated Fatty Acid (PUFA) content and ability to oxidize easily.

  • Why are seed oils bad?

    You may have noticed more people talking about seed oils. Leading nutritionists tell us that they're the source of chronic inflammation and disease due to their high Poly-Unsaturated Fatty Acid (PUFA) content.


    PUFAs react very easily with oxygen at any temperature. In the body, this means that they deplete your antioxidants (for example Vitamin E). As a result, you feel sluggish and negative after you consume them.


    In the long term, seed oils/PUFAs become stubborn fat that you can't lose because the body can't use them for anything positive. As a result, seed oil heavy diets can lead to excess weight accumulation, which makes it hard to feel and look your best.
